This is a glimpse of our party table that celebrated our ballet class and the beginning of summer vacation. Notice the pretty labels on our water bottles that said: Jennifer's Ballerinas and Jennifer's Danseurs. Thank you to Ballerina Jill for her party artistry. See you all in September!

Are You Dancing in Your Living Room, too?
Our Ballerina and Danseur
are showing us how to dance at home!
Here's something to try at home. Ballerina Anita showed us one day in class how she begins each morning with her own personal ballet routine to prepare for a New York City day.
It turns out that both our ballerina Anita and Danseur Bruno have each created a personal dance choreography from ballet steps learned in class. A typical ballerina morning warm-up includes stretching and ballet combinations. She adds favorite words to her favorite steps and dances for her health and well-being. Balletic movement inspires her. This is The Jennifer Grambs Technique in action, which pleases me greatly.
Our danseur Bruno demonstrated how he combines his practice with music from a favorite ballet, Carmen. What a joy to see how he has personalized the work we do at the barre and center and made it his own. Watching him dance to Carmen's La Habanera inspired me. His form and power, wonderful to see and difficult to achieve. I tried it myself later that evening. In my own living room. To my iPhone music. But Bruno's choreography is better than mine, and I'll need a refresher from him next class. When my iPhone conked out (as we all know it often does) I hummed and danced to Do-Re-Mi... and thought of our wonderful class chock full of dancers.
Try it yourselves. Right now. Dance in your living rooms!

As you can see, our ballerinas are hard-working and dedicated.
Here, ballerinas rehearse for a community outreach to benefit our library.
The good news is that all NYC libraries have retained funding!
Thank you, Ballerinas!
