Trying on your first pair of ballet shoes is thrilling. Those of you who have already experienced that moment know what I'm talking about.
Why don't you tell me about it: mailto:[email protected]
We will talk more about the look, feel and care of your grown-up ballet slippers in another blog. But here are some pointers as you consider your first ballet purchase:
- Think pink and soft leather
- Notice where elastics should be sewn.
- Select a dance wear shop that's known for quality…even tho your first pair should not be expensive, your shoes should be fitted properly.
- Ask for help! Your salesperson will almost certainly be a dancer, glad to share the secrets of sizing.
- Slippers should be snug, conforming to your feet, but shouldn't restrict movement.
- Keep in mind that ballet shoes will stretch in time.
- Always tuck in the elastic bows used to secure the fit of your ballet shoes. The sure sign of a beginner is an untucked bow. We will talk more about why.
- For sure, I can tell you that you'll never forget your first ballet shoes. More than likely, you'll never give them up!
